The current state of unemployment in Kenya is a major cause for concern. According to the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics, the unemployment rate in Kenya is at a staggering 9.2%, with the youth unemployment rate being even higher at 13.1%. This is a worrying statistic, as it indicates that a large portion of the population is unable to find gainful employment.
The reasons for this high rate of unemployment are varied. The lack of job opportunities in the formal sector is one of the major factors. Additionally, there is a lack of access to quality education and training. This means that many Kenyans are unable to acquire the skills needed to find gainful employment.
It is clear that the current state of unemployment in Kenya is unacceptable. The government must take action to create more job opportunities and to ensure that Kenyans have access to quality education and training. Only then will the unemployment rate in Kenya start to decline.
